  • Treatment aim: provide individual and group therapy in a state hospital setting on acute inpatient treatment unit for latency age children (5-11 years old) of highly diverse racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic status diagnosed with extreme behavior disorders and severe mental illnesses

  • My role: provide short- to mid-length evidenced-based interventions with hospitalized children focused on stabilization, diagnosis, behavior management, fostering increased repertoire of coping skills, and identification of needs upon discharge; refine case conceptualization skills with emphasis on trauma-informed care; select, administer, score, and interpret psychological assessment measures to answer a variety of specific referral questions; co-facilitate therapeutic groups; engage in consultation and multidisciplinary treatment team collaboration

  • Treatment aim: provide emergency psychological services to Duke undergraduate students seeking immediate therapeutic treatment in light of COVID-19 via clinical crisis team formed in response to Duke Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) patient overflow

  • My role: provide weekly psychotherapy based in flexible application of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Unified Protocol for Emotional Disorders, and trauma-informed care; present bi-weekly case presentations during team meetings, receive supervision by licensed clinical psychologists, and provide peer-to-peer supervision of other students; maintain a flexible, principle-driven CBT approach for assessment, case conceptualization, and intervention for undergraduate students and monitor client progress using clinical outcome measures
